About Ayo Awosika
A classically trained vocalist, Ayo has transferred her aptitude for opera and art song to the world of jazz and beyond. Early on in her career, she had the opportunity to learn from jazz greats like Ellis Marsalis, and Art Lande. She has also had the privilege of sharing the stage with the likes of Richie Havens, Peter Eldridge of The New York Voices, bassist/singer Esperanza Spalding, and members of Tower of Power. Ayo has mixed her love for the complexity of jazz and soul with the honesty of folk and roots music, working to find the place where these worlds meet in her songwriting. Now living in New York City, she splits her time between performing and teaching. Ayo is currently working on her debut full length album with Grammy award winning producer, Scott Jacoby – set to be released in the spring of this year.

Matt Schlatter is a composer and guitarist based in Brooklyn.  His songwriting is at once influenced by the simplicity of folk and an imagination for orchestral arrangements. In addition to his solo work, Matt performs guitar with Small Dream Ada, composes and plays piano for indie classical group, Marigold Opera, and leads the new electronic group, Instrument Thieves.

[Tyler Gilmore]  is lending his innovative composing and arranging skills to indie chamber group Small Dream Ada, which is highlighted by Alaina Ferris‘s stunning vocals.

On Ninth and Lincoln’s last effort, Static Line, leader and composer Tyler Gilmore moved away from the standard big-band form and went in a different direction, one inspired by twentieth-century composers and minimalism. Now he’s lending his innovative composing and arranging skills to indie chamber group Small Dream Ada, which is highlighted by Alaina Ferris‘s stunning vocals. The Apollo Chamber Brass Quintet and Ninth and Lincoln guitarist Matt Fuller and vibraphonist Greg Harris also contribute to Ada’s four-song EP, resulting in textural elements similar to those found on Static Line that work remarkably well with Ferris’s singing. At times ethereal and dreamy, Golden Propeller is a gorgeous collaboration. – Jon Solomon

The dress was made specially for Small [...]]]> Last week, we went on a music video location scout with Brooklyn filmographer Steven S. Harrington for our song “I Shut My Eyes,” featured on our forthcoming EP.

While scouting, we decided to take some photographs the amazing dress made Joanna Baum, owner Sir by Joanna Baum.

The dress was made specially for Small Dream Ada’s pre-release party at Rockwood Music Hall on August 13th, 2012.
